SILENT PRAISE SIGN LANGUAGE CHOIR AND TAMBOURINE TEAM

 

Silent Praise Sign Language Choir ministers in song to both deaf and hearing people.  The choir is directed by Barbara Davis.  Other members are Jackie Kelsey, Susan Key, Leighann Massey, Kristen Block, and Kaymee Key.  The choir travels to different churches and community events to minister.  The main purpose of the choir is to witness to people about Jesus Christ through sign language.

Sign Language is becoming increasingly popular across the nation.  In addition to its natural practical usage for communication, more and more people are discovering sign language as an art form for use in music, theaters, and churches.

Silent Praise also ministers with the tambourine.  The tambourine is an instrument which makes a joyful noise unto the Lord and at the same time lifts up the banner as the ribbons which are attached to the tambourine are being flung into the air with the movements.  There are many Scriptures which refer to praising God with the tambourine and dance.  Our objective is to play the tambourine skillfully and worshipfully according to Biblical guidelines, to present the tambourine as an instrument that enhances worship and that flows with other musical instruments.  We study about the origin of the tambourine, history of the tambourine, Biblical aspects of dance used together with musical instruments to worship God, the tambourine as a weapon of warfare, as a worship tool, and Scriptures that refer to the tambourine.  We also learn the meanings of the ribbons and what each color means.
